Employment

Employing generally means:

  • Contractor
    • Individual
    • Company
  • Employee
    • Full-Time/Part-Time
    • Casual

Over the hundreds of years, Governments increase the administrative overhead dealing with employment. There is always more forms, more benefits, more reports... etc. So the process gets more and more complicated. While they are often introduced as protections for workers against mega-corporations, they often lead to an increased moat for mega-corporations by increasing the cost of compliance on small businesses, and thus creating opportunities for administrative rent-seeking private-entities which can help automate the increased bureaucratic compliance for a fee.

Dedicated HRIS systems like Deel.com try to automate some parts, but they as of now have are half-baked solutions. We've tried several alternatives too.

We believe a dedicated Matrix AI system would need to be built - using something like Retool, but in lieue of this, our workflow consists of email and a Git repository, and some manual filing work.

Payroll involves both gross salary/wages distribution usually through a payment system that builds on top of bank transfers.

At the same time, superannuation has to be paid through a superannuation clearing house. This process might be combined with the payroll and accounting software in the future.
